Summer doesnt mean what it used to. And I don't just mean when I was younger because even when Lauren was still home and in school it still meant something.
For me, this is the first time in a long time it FELT like summer. I've been off work...I can go to bed when I want, wake up when I want and hang out at the beach and the dog park all day.
I feel like I'm 12 again!
Wait...I didn't have these boobs when I was 12...so it's even cooler, because I can do whatever the heck I want, and I have boobs to go along with that carefree attitude!
Oh I have summer year round Linda, its the whole; June, July, August thing. I dunno if I'm explaining it right but its the concept of freedom from everything I guess. xoxo
Me too nitebyrd. We own EVERY book he did. Life was better with Calvin and Hobbes in it everyday. oxox
Oh and YES Linda, she does have purdy eyes. They were black when she was little, then dark brown and now they are the same as mine, hazel. She had eyelashes that went for miles back then and the most perfect natural eyebrows. lol
As to summer, I do notice it, as it does have a different rhythm to it, even to a childless 40 something. I can tell that school is back in session and things are quickening up. It's a mixed blessing--I hate August weather around here and Fall is fabulous, but Winter be comin'
Dear peedee, I also loved summer and was bored with it at the same time! We used to do crazy no-cost games, and I swear we went to the library every week. I had a garden where broccoli never grew but zinnias did. The carrots were pitiful orange strings.
And I miss Calvin and Hobbes too! Bill Watterston knew everything about being a kid. Far more than Peanuts.

Yup... summer seems to have disappeared about the last time the youngest of the Shoe kids grew up... :o(
However, I had more of a summer this year than I have had in years past... so it can't be TOO bad!!!
