Once a ballah, always a ballah....
I'm not sure how the word got out but somehow it did. The Navy was hiding 3 ex-softball players on their base in Oklahoma.
The sailor was invited along with two of her buddies to try out for Tinkers Womens Softball team. Both of her buddies played 4 years of collage ball. The sailor played on Stacey Nuvman's (USA Olympics Softball) gold glove travel ball team. And High School. And oooooodles of other travel ball teams thru the years.
This base team plays tournaments locally, in TX and KS and I believe other bases.
And the verdict after the tryout??? Um She Made It. Like I new she would. ;)
Now the quandry......how the hell am I gonna get to all her tournaments?? Shit. I can count on one hand the number of games I've missed.

I Love the Sunshine
Its been a rough winter. By MY standards at least. I honestly cant handle weeks of what I consider cold weather. Cold weather to me is anything below 60. I've lived in South Florida for exactly 20 years this past January 5th and YES my blood has thinned. In a couple of years I will have lived half my life in South Florida. Thats amazing to me really.
The last month or so the weather has been crap. Rain, cold (and I mean COLD - 40's and some 30's at night) and not always so sunny days. So yesterday and today were a welcome, welcome relief. I need the sun. I love the sun. I love the warmth.
Today was a pool day. NO, I didnt go in the pool, its too cold. The water temp according to the thermometer was 62 degrees. Brrrrrrr. You wont catch me frolicking in the water unless its upper 80's. Minimum. I prefer low 90's. But the boys went in. Alot. They also ran around like nutcases for about 4 hours. And I got pics. With my new camera. =)
Jake is such a happy boy.
If there is a ball in the pool, it is Remi's sworn duty to retrieve it.

Wet dogs on my chair. YES I got funky tan lines because of these two.
Jake loves his Aunty Ginger. No, really. Jake doesnt give kisses to hardly anyone. He'll give Aunt Ginger a bath. Weird. I think he's got a crush on her. He actually was leaning back into her in this pic.
Thats George, my neighbor. Funny guy. Love him like a brother. Anyway, the boys are swimming together in this pic but more importantly this pic shows you all how close I live to my parents. The pool is behind my parents house (the one you see to the right). My house is that one you see right there in the center of the pic behind George. Yup, just a few feet away. Many bonus' to this arrangement. Built in babysitters for the boys. Pool. And amazing dinners like the one I was invited to tonight. Home made roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, soft rolls and chocolate/chocolate cake for dessert. mmmmmmmmm.
Here's the boys playing. He who has the ball wins.
And this is why Jake is passed out snoring in the chair right now.
All in all a great day. Just how I like it. Totally chill. =)

Street Painting Festival
So this morning like my last post said, I went to a Street Painting Festival up in Lake Worth. Ginger (my sister for those of you that dont know her) invited me to go with her and meet up with a bunch of her friends. And for those of you really in the know, yes she is back down here from Boston. She moved back. It was too flippen cold and she missed me. Its Possible!!! To miss me that is. ;)
So this morning Ginger comes over, she's staying at my parents right now, Next Door, AWESOME! The walk over to my place is all of 25 seconds and she hands me her Fuji camera and said "Here, do you want my Fuji camera since since you are thinking of getting a better camera anyway?" WHAT?!?!?!??! OMG!!! THANK YOU!!! Its perfect and just what I was thinking about getting and it takes awesome pics.
So after much excitement and ooing and aahhhing over my new camera we left around noon and headed northbound on I95 about 20 miles or so. Lake Worth is just south of West Palm Beach and takes about 30 minutes to get to.
Once there we met up with the friends and walked around for a couple hours. The weather was OMG beautiful. Mid 70's and bright sunny skies. It felt delish after a week of cold mornings and barely 60 degrees during the day.
There were a ton of artist there from little kids to high school/college age and budding artist to professionals. They all used chalk and had little sections cordoned off for their work. One lesson learned was that I would go on Sunday next time. They have Saturday thru Sunday to complete the work. So we saw a lot of unfinished work. I may end up riding up there again tomorrow to take a look at the finished pieces. I dunno. Depends on my schedule because I lead such a busy life. NOT.

Love the Olympics
I had always wanted to be an Olympian when I was growing up. Guess I didnt want it that bad lol, or I'd have been there.
There have been some really cool events that I dont remember seeing in the last winter Olympics and some old favorites too. I love the snowboarding and downhill skiing the best. The super crazy skiing high jump thing always makes me wonder just how crazy you have to be to say "I want to do that". Nuts.
Anyway, I saw an interview with Shawn White, the Gold medal snowboarder tonight and he said something that made me think. He said he was waiting for a call from the white house, he wanted to be invited to visit. Now this happens with a lot of sports pro's who've reached the pinnacle. And I think all them Gold medals is a pinnacle. So I dont think the request is that far off. But like I said its made me think.
I dont typically get political on this blog. My blogroll is definately a majority to the right so I figure you all know where I stand. Not that I dont appreciate the opinions of all, I just may not agree. And I do actually agree with a few left sided stances. Hence the reason I'm "just right of center", but firmly there...
Anyway back to what Shawn requested and why I was thinking. How rude or disrespectful would it be if I were an Olympian and won a shit ton of Gold medals and the White House called and said the President wanted to meet me and I said, thanks, but No Thanks.
I'd giggle as I said it too. lol
